TinCaps Reading Program 2026

Posted Date: 02/27/26 (09:00 AM)

Dear Huntertown Families,

We are gearing up for another Tin Caps reading challenge!  The TinCaps reading program will run for four weeks (the month of March) and will conclude with a free ticket to a TinCaps game.  Please read the following rules and encourage your child to join the challenge.  This is also a great opportunity for the whole family to unplug and read together.  Our goal for this program is 100% student participation.  Let’s get reading!

  • The Spring Reading Program will last four weeks, starting March 2nd and running through March 27th.

  • Reading time at school does not count towards this program.  Students are encouraged to read something they enjoy - something that interests them.  Everyone is asked to spend 20 minutes each day (5 days per week) reading.  If the child cannot read yet, we ask that the parent or an adult spend time reading to them.

  • At the beginning of the program, a reading log will be sent home to keep track of each week’s goal (20 minutes a day, Monday through Friday).  If your child misses a day, he or she can makeup the time that weekend or over spring break.

  • If the student meets his or her goal, the parent will sign that week’s log.  For each signature, the student will earn a “base.”  If the student makes it to “home plate” (meeting their goal for all four weeks), they will earn a FREE TICKET to a TinCaps baseball game.

  • Huntertown Family Night will be Sunday, May 10th at 1:05 p.m.  If you are unable to attend this night, you may choose another date that better fits your schedule.  You and your family will have the opportunity to purchase additional tickets at a discounted price of $14 per ticket or $8 per lawn ticket.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me or your child’s teacher.  Thank you for helping your child build a lifelong love of reading!
