Safety Information

Header2222

Dear Huntertown Families,

Below are some of the safety practices and procedures at Huntertown. It takes a shared effort of parents, staff, and the community to ensure that our students are as safe as possible. It’s important that everyone in our Huntertown family be familiar with and understand these procedures to ensure the safety of everyone in our building.

EMERGENCY INFORMATION

During registration, you were asked to fill out emergency information for each child. We rely on this information, so please make sure that it is up to date. If you have changes in phone numbers, addresses, health concerns, or emergency contacts, please update the information in the school office as soon as possible.

BUILDING ENTRY

All visitors must enter through Door #1. Once buzzed in, all visitors will provide their driver’s license to be issued a badge through our Raptor visitor management software. All exterior doors are locked from the outside during the school day. Students and staff are trained NOT to open outside doors for visitors.

VISITOR ACCESS

As of August 2019, NACS schools are not open to lunchroom visitors. Classroom visits must be arranged through the teacher, and the office should be notified. Visitors are not allowed on the playground during outside recess or in the classroom during inside recess.

VOLUNTEERS

In order to be considered as a field trip chaperone or classroom volunteer, a background check is required.  Click this online volunteer background check to apply.  There is a cost to submit a national background check with Raptor Technologies and, once approved, the background check is valid for three years. You will receive a confirmation email after submitting your application and a follow up email after the application has been approved.

APPOINTMENTS / TRANSPORTATION CHANGES

  • All student absences should be called into the office by 8:30 a.m.
  • Please send a note with your child in the morning regarding any changes in how the student will be going home. If we do not have a note, your child will be sent home their normal way. In the event of an emergency, you may call the office to indicate changes in transportation. Please DO NOT EMAIL the office staff or your child’s teacher with transportation changes. Teachers and staff are often unable to respond to email during the school day. All transportation changes MUST be made prior to 2:00 p.m.
  • Please call or send in a note if your child will be leaving for an appointment. Parents/guardians must sign students in/out of the office when leaving for and returning from appointments.
  • Parents/guardians must notify the office if anyone other than themselves will be picking up their child.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation and support with our safety procedures. Through a shared effort, we will be able to ensure the safety of all students, staff, parents, and community members at Huntertown. Please feel free to contact me at any time if you have any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,
